These were no flukes either. The teams assembled by manager Stan Storton mercilessly tore apart their opponents and hammered in the goals: 3 against Stockport, Northampton, Darlington and Burnley; 4 on both Preston's and Rochdale's home turf. In 1985, Telford became one of only 9 non-league clubs to reach the 5th round, where they came up against the best team in England at the time - table-topping Everton. Even these giants were unable to break down the team at first, with Telford holding out for an hour before Everton scored. To this day, Telford hold the record for the largest ever away following at an FA Cup game because of the 11,000 supporters that made the trip to Goodison Park that day.
